Bomburu Ella waterfall which is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Sri Lanka is situated in the village called Perawella, in Uva Paranagama beside Badulla Nuwaraeliya district border. This is also known as Perawella waterfall.
The one and only access to this waterfall are from the junction called Raindapola situated about 3 km away from Haggala park entrance to Nuwara Eliya side. After a ride of nearly 8km, the footpath headed towards the fall can be seen. The walk which will take about one hour is really a hard walk through a bumpy track with slopes and gaps. All your weariness and hardships of walking vanish once you reach there. Any visitor to this beautiful place would experience what we could probably experience from European countries such as Switzerland or Netherlands. The lush green situated in front of the waterfall adds an extra beauty to the fall.
This waterfall can also be considered as one of the widest waterfalls and the vicinity of the fall is very appropriate for camping. This enchanting place that has become a paradise for local and foreign tourists is a place that you should not miss when touring around Nuwaraeliya. There are many wayside boutiques that sell rotty with katta sambol, orange juice, and belly mal drinks(slim apple)that will help you to refresh yourself. Much of your weariness throughout the journey automatically vanishes as your walk is through a rainforest that acts as a buffer against the encroaching sun. A tour of this area will add you an experience apart. That is the experience of a tranquil village that is totally dedicated to farming.
